For my preliminary project i had to create a video of somebody walking down the corridor, opening a door and having a short conversation with a friend. I firstly drew a storyboard of the camera angles that would be involved.
During the filming process we changed different elements of our initial ideas due to, light, people using the area we originally wanted to film in and difficulties with the camera. Firstly i was filmed walking down the stairs while the camera panned. Their was then a low angle shot of my walking down the remaining stairs. I then walked through the corridor with a point of view shot.
This is the point where we had to change form the storyboard, we had to use a different door due to lighting problems and people using the room. We had a close up on my hand opening the door, this was then challenging to do the next shot because we had to think about continuity when moving the camera through the door.
The next challenge was the conversation, when doing over the shoulder shots with a friend it was hard to keep a straight face and remember what we had to say. We had to do the lines over and over to make sure we were not laughing or messing our lines up in the shot.
Making this short clip took a long time and was a lot more challenging than i was expecting. It has shown me that their are lots of elements to consider when shooting my film opening for my coursework, especially choosing the right actors who will be able to remain serious thought filming.
